A bad report card, but a fulfilled life
Larry Crandall's tenure as superintendent was defined by an unwavering commitment to the students of Dowagiac Union High School. He believed that every graduate carries the potential to transform their community, provided they have the right support and mentorship. Crandall Scholars was founded to honor this philosophy, and to pass along his three Cs and 2 Fs to future leaders.

The Criteria
The Crandall Scholars program is focused toward graduating seniors of Dowagiac Union High School who demonstrate a commitment to community impact. Selection is based on academic persistence, mentorship potential, and a desire to honor the legacy of leadership through service.

The scholarship is renewable each year with an annual letter/email regarding your progress toward your degree and how you’re positively contributing to your college and/or local community.
The scholarship can be used at a 2-year or 4-year accredited college or university, is open to any student with a minimum of 2.5 GPA, and will be granted with a slight preference given to those pursuing a teaching degree or a career in nonprofits/community service.
